"Rethinking the future."
Students from Tecnun have participated in the conference University of the Pyrenees.
Last week took place in Barbastro the 36th edition of the Pyrenees University conference Universities of the Pyrenees (JUP) in which, as usual, several students from Tecnun participated. Under the slogan "Rethinking the future", they addressed major current issues through seminars, colloquiums and interdisciplinary sessions. In all, more than 200 students and professors from 10 Spanish universities attended.
Each day began with a general session at position by a speaker who, from his own professional field, brought attendees closer to area of congress. The participants were then divided into seminars, which over the course of four sessions will deal with topics such as transhumanism, the impact of the '68 revolution and the future of pensions, among others. In addition to the academic component, this summer forum includes Cultural Activities Office and artistic activities such as a poetry recital in Alquézar or an action painting session at the Laus winery.
The goal of these conference is to promote culture and university reflection through the enriching and unhurried conversation among participants in an enriching environment. This year the conference of the Pyrenees have had prestigious speakers such as the architect Alberto Campo Baeza, the former minister Rafael Arias Salgado or José Pardo Santayana, analyst of the Spanish Institute of Strategic Studies.
"The JUP is a week in the summer in which we continue to form ourselves as university students. We deal with current issues with people of influence to create a criterion on what directly influences us as citizens of the world," says Salvador López, a student of Industrial Organization Engineering at Tecnun, who adds: "Resting is not doing nothing, but changing activities; and that is exactly what we do at the JUP.
