Students of Industrial Organization Engineering from Tecnun and School of Economics participate in the Entrepreneurship Week Tecnun-IESE

07 | 02 | 2024

Fifteen years ago, a group of 60 students from Industrial Engineering y Telecommunications from Tecnunparticipated in what was the first week of entrepreneurship Tecnun-IESE. The week was sponsored by Bic Gipuzkoa, then Bic Berrilan, and designed by the director Admissions Tecnun, Mikel Arcelus, and the director Corporate Entrepreneurship of the University, Gustavo Pego.

15 years later, the program's director , Mikel Arcelus, continues the initiative and continues to come to Madrid with students from Degree of Industrial Organization Engineering and School of Economics at the University of Navarra. "It has been a great success and the participants have worked on a total of 10 cases from area entrepreneurship with professors from one of the best business schools in the world," acknowledges Arcelus.

Students have worked on basic aspects such as the entrepreneur's profile , critical variables for the success of a business venture, fundamental metrics, traditional and digital business models, initial financial Structures or technological entrepreneurship.

In addition, this latest edition has had some new features. As Arcelus explains, the students were confronted with a new case, written by the CEO of Linqcase and alumni of Tecnun, Ibon Iribarren. "The case was taught by the author himself and was of great interest," adds the professor, Mikel Arcelus, who directed the students at all times. On the other hand, IESE professor Diego Muñoz gave a workshop on innovation and business leadership, which caused a sensation among the participants.

Business ideas

It should be noted that during the week, the students developed several business ideas that were presented in front of three business angels: professors Jesús Benito, Isidoro Sánchez and Mikel Arcelus. "They did a great job of market analysis, definition of model business and economic viability. The requested financing demand was between 50,000 and 300,000 euros and it is not excluded that some of the ideas will go ahead", says Arcelus. A total of eight business ideas were presented related to leisure time for young people, dry car washing in outdoor parking lots, bars offering sauces, motorized shopping carts, training for consultancy service processes, platforms to find waiters and shot glass vending machines.

"Once again, we would like to thank IESE for their welcome and availability for academic staff and facilities," says Mikel Arcelus.
