"We cannot choose what happens to us in life, but we can choose how to deal with it in the most profitable way". These were the words pronounced by the corporate director of Human Resources of the Indaux Industrial Group, Generosa Cerviño, during the session "Coaching in accompaniment" that took place yesterday at the School of Engineers. goal Cerviño, accompanied by the company's general director , Javier García Alonso, explained different coaching techniques to the teachers and advisors of Tecnun, with the aim of improving the advice they give to students.

It should be noted that the advising is an ordinary teaching activity that involves the professor and student in interpersonal communication and constitutes an essential aspect of the educational function of the University of Navarra.

The session was developed around different techniques to improve understanding between people, foster motivation in the students being mentored and promote a relationship of trust.

"Coaching techniques are based on empathic listening and the basic work tool is conversation," explained the Indaux expert, who is certified by the International Coach Federation (ICF).

He also made a distinction between the terms "obligation" and "commitment," which served as food for thought for the attendees. "When obligation is accompanied by motivation we have commitment. A committed individual becomes autonomous while someone who is obligated ends up being dependent."
