Matia Foundation y TecnunSchool of Engineering of the University of Navarra in Sebastian, have signed a collaboration agreementagreement in order to promote the volunteer activities of the students and professionals of the center.

Different engineering students and professors of Tecnun collaborate throughout the year in activities to accompany the elderly and the goal of the signature is to formalize the relationship that Matia and Tecnun have maintained for a year. During the confinement, students of the Choir and the Big Band of the School of Engineering have offered online concerts for seniors and functional diversity, and next year, both entities want to continue in this line of collaboration. Also, the professor of Tecnun David del Rio and the researcher de Ceit Iñaki Yarza implemented a remote video call system at the Lamourous Center of Matia Fundazioa, accompanying people living in the center and facilitating communication with their families.

The activity of volunteer activities of Tecnun is channeled through Tantakagoal the Solidarity Time Bank of campus of San Sebastian, which was created three years ago with the aim of putting the time of the university community at the service of social entities. "Tantaka is a clear commitment of the School, because we see it as essential that the University encourages university students to participate in social activities. All of this contributes to the human formation that we emphasize so much and that we consider vital for our students," says Raúl Antón, director of Tecnun.

Matia Fundazioa has the purpose to accompany people in their aging process to improve their welfare, generating knowledge and personalized services that promote their autonomy and dignity. In this purpose the work of the entities and volunteers have an essential contribution and there are more than 204 collaborating entities and 3,550 volunteers who in different ways support the foundational purpose . "MatiaZaleak recognizes and values the richness of these relationships", as Maider Azurmendi, head of Cooperation of the entity, pointed out.

Educational centers such as Tecnun participate in this mission statement within the intergenerational projects, committed to the social participation of their students and favoring the relationships between the student body and the people living in the Matia centers. "The relationships that are generated in the intergenerational exchange have an enriching effect on the well-being of both. Natural relationships that go beyond age and help to overcome stereotypes established in our society," Azurmendi acknowledges.
