José Miguel Elorza, new Alumni manager - Tecnun
She joined in September as head of the School's alumni office.
graduate with a degree in Humanities from the University of Navarra, his professional career has always been linked to the world of Communication and Education, developing his professional project in Bilbao.
In 2015, after completing a Master's Degree in Marketing and Commercial Management (ESIC), she returned to Donostia - San Sebastian, orienting her career to consultancy service communication and public speaking. She is partner founder of COEL Comunicación, a public speaking, storytelling and public speaking consultancy, which teaches communication courses for companies.
Now, she is in charge of the Alumni Office at Tecnun.
What do you think is the mission statement of the Alumni Office?
It seems to me that the main task is to keep alive the relationship between the University and so many alumni who have passed through our classrooms. One of the great illusions is to promote among the Alumni the commitment of service to society, which is something typical of Tecnun, and I believe that all alumni carry it in their DNA.
What are the main objectives of Alumni for this course?
There are many challenges ahead, all with the underlying idea of supporting alumni in the professional, social and even staff world. We are interested in giving people the opportunity to join projects that we consider very exciting.
For example, we want to offer Alumni the option to join volunteer activities activities. The experience with the alumni who collaborate with Tantaka is incredible, and it is only fair to provide our Alumni with activities that help them grow as individuals and also improve society.
In this line of positively influencing the environment is the financial aid to entrepreneurs. The University has a pioneering and exciting project , Innovation Factory, which is advancing at a great pace, in which many Alumni are already involved Tecnun. There are brilliant ideas that are waiting for a push to become reality, and we would like to be the ones that provoke that necessary step.
As I have already said, the professional world is another very broad field. Tecnun has an excellent service of professional opportunities, and we are moving forward together to maintain the contact with all the Alumni and facilitate their professional life at any time of their career. Lifelong Learning, the continuing education, is another very useful tool that we want to promote in favor of our Alumni, as well as Networking and other initiatives that are already working very well.
What would you like to transfer to alumni?
That Alumni has its doors open 24 hours a day to attend to any need. Tecnun is their home and they can come whenever they want. It may sound like a cliché, but any Alumni who approaches us will always find a helping hand.
What are you most excited about?
Something I have noticed since I arrived. All the professors I have met maintain contact with alumni and students. My hope is that these personal relationships forged during the years of my career can be used to help other engineers. One of the functions of Alumni is to be a catalyst, so that many more people can support each other and improve their own environment and the society in which we live.
