"More than 60% of the relevant business projects that we have promoted at Bic Gipuzkoa come from engineers at Tecnun"
Marisa Arriola, director of Bic Gipuzkoa shared her vision of science and technology with engineering students at Colegio Mayor Jaizkibel
Marisa Arriola, director of Bic Gipuzkoa gave a session on Tuesday, November 14 at Colegio Mayor Jaizkibel, on the occasion of the initiative Women for Science and Technology initiative, promoted last academic year by several professors and researchers from Tecnun, School of Engineering of the University of Navarra in Donostia, and from other University centers such as the CIMA (research center Applied Medicine).
The goal of the Women for Science and Technology program is to help female students in science careers to develop professionally through different activities, seminars and mentoring, as well as to make visible and enhance the presence of women in science. This academic year initiative has started together with Marisa Arriola, director of Bic Gipuzkoa, who gave a session entitled "Promoting Biotechnology and Health companies in Gipuzkoa" at Colegio Mayor Jaizkibel to engineering students and staff of Tecnun.
"Very interesting ideas are being generated in Gipuzkoa in bioengineering and bioscience that could become business ideas," he said on Tuesday during the session. He also confessed: "More than 60% of the relevant business projects that we have promoted from Bic Gipuzkoa come from engineers from Tecnun".
It should be noted that 37% of the first year student body of the 10 Degrees of Tecnun are women and through this initiative we want to offer students the opportunity to share experiences with women leaders in the world of science and technology, as explained Paloma Grau, coordinator of the initiative in Tecnun.
