Danobatgroup has awarded again this year two projects of innovation applied to industrial manufacturing processes, developed by students of the Master of Industrial Engineering from Tecnun. Unlike previous editions, the defense of the projects and the awards ceremony submission was held at the facilities of Tecnun in Donostia, instead of at the facilities of the industrial group in Elgoibar.

This year's award went to the teams formed by the students Iñigo Ariceta, Alex Barrenetxea, Ander Echezarreta and Eñaut Salaberria, on the one hand; and on the other hand to the team formed by Imanol Anta, Amaia Cendoya, Mikel Malcorra and Aitor Martín, who presented a solution for the machining of flanges for oil & gas that complied with the requirements precision and automation demanded by the Basque manufacturer.

challenge "For us it has been a great opportunity to face the challenge posed by Danobatgroup and a great opportunity to put to test our technical knowledge in a real manufacturing environment", explain Amaia Cendoya and Alex Barrenetxea , spokespersons of the winning teams.

To obtain the award, the Master's students were faced with the same technological challenge posed by the machine manufacturer tool, to which they had to respond in teams. Specifically, this year's challenge consisted of the design of a machine for the machining of flanges for oil & gas in an automated production environment.

A total of 48 students from the Master's program participated, distributed in 12 groups. As a previous step to development of projects, the participants had the opportunity to receive theoretical and practical training on precision concepts and 4.0 technologies, by Harkaitz Urreta, manager of the research group of design and Precision Engineering of the Ideko Technology Center, Danobatgroup's innovation engine.

Once their work was completed, the students had fifteen minutes to defend their projects in front of a jury composed of Mikel Arizmendi, professor of the Master's Degree in Industrial Engineering at Tecnun, and Harkaitz Urreta.

"We have been surprised by the students' ability to provide an effective response to a real manufacturing problem, the rigor of their technical reports, their skills for collaborative work and the solvency with which they have defended their projects," say Harkaitz Urreta and Mikel Arizmendi.

These awards are part of the alliance established between the industrial group and Tecnun in December 2015 with the goal to strengthen ties with the educational community and facilitate the transfer of knowledge acquired in universities and graduate schools to real manufacturing environments.

The awards are an opportunity to reinforce the students' training of excellence, foster their technical knowledge and enhance transversal skills such as inventiveness, analytical skills and teamwork.
