The workshop Siderurgia 4.0 held today in San Sebastian has brought together the entire network of the research and development+I related to the steel industry: from the University, to technology centers, suppliers of equipment for the steel industry to the Spanish steel companies themselves. Among them Ceit-IK4, Tecnun-University of Navarra, Tecnalia, Fagor Arrasate, Sarralle, Acerinox, ArcelorMittal, Sidenor or CELSA Group, which will try to adapt the concept of Industry 4.0 to the steel sector and its steels. 

This workshop has analyzed the main challenges faced by steel manufacturers; from Industry 4.0 to new opportunities in construction, including sensorization, process improvement and optimization in finishing lines or integrated intelligent manufacturing.

In addition, taking advantage of the venue and counting on the attendance of numerous Engineering students from Tecnun, we have sought to make an attractive workshop so that students can consider this sector as a favorable one to which to direct their professional careers.

The event brought together more than 120 people between staff researcher , technicians from the companies and students. It has been hosted at the facilities of Tecnun- Engineering School of the University of Navarra and at the end of the workshop, attendees have visited and known in detail the facilities of Ceit-IK4.

PLATEA (Spanish Steel Technology Platform) PLATEA is the Spanish Steel Technology Platform that brings together both steel producing companies and users together with all the research in the sector through Technology and Research Centers and Universities, defining and sharing the same Strategic Research diary in which strategic lines have been defined for the steel sector.
