The University of Navarra has been awarded the international award "Green Flag Award", in recognition of the integral management of its green areas.

The award places the campus of Pamplona as one of the best parks in the world for the level of excellence in its management. It is also the second Spanish entity, after the Zaragoza Water Park, and the first university campus to receive this quality certification in Spain.

The international award recognizes that the campus is managed to high environmental standards, is very well maintained and maintained and is excellent for welcoming visitors. To achieve this, the correct management must be accredited in various areas, such as access to open, green and quality places, gardening care, security, environment or future plans, among others.

The University of Navarra is also working to save energy and water in its buildings and to reduce CO2 emissions in its facilities, as well as the impact of noise on campus. It also promotes sustainable mobility and habits along the lines of the three Rs (recycle, reduce, reuse), closely linked to the responsible use of resources such as water, electricity, paper or the incorporation of reusable cups and bags.

In fact, the project Green Tecnun-Ceit was born at the Campus Tecnológico de la Universidad de Navarra to improve its environmental practices, as Enrique Aymerich, researcher of department of Environment of Ceit-Ik4 and coordinator of this initiative, launched in 2009, tells us. "Management saw that it was necessary to take a turn in this direction and move towards a greener and more sustainable campus ," says Aymerich.
