"The Mutriku Undimotriz Power Plant is the world's first commercial wave power plant."
Aitor Oregi has talked about the evolution of battery technologies and wave energy to the students of subject Electrical Technology.
The professor of Tecnun, Joaquín de No, has brought as a guest to the fourth year Electrical Technology subject the former student of the School, Aitor Oregi Baztarrika.
Oregi studied Materials Engineering and currently holds the position of Director of Energy, Mines and Industrial Administration of the Basque Government. Previously, this Alumni Tecnun had worked for private companies such as Cie Automotive, Forjas Albisu or CAF, among others.
Oregi talked for about an hour and average with the students about the evolution of battery technologies and also presented the pilot experience of the Mutriku Wave Power Plant. "This is a power plant that generates electricity by using energy from sea waves. It was inaugurated in 2011 and is the first commercial wave power plant in the world", Oregi explained.
It should be noted that wave, or wave power, is the energy that allows electricity to be obtained from mechanical energy generated by the movement of waves.
