Tecnun has hosted this morning the first edition of Solidariun, a workshop of open doors to the NGOs of Gipuzkoa. "The goal is that students and employees know first hand the social needs of the territory", said the director of TecnunRaúl Antón. "As university students we have the responsibility to be the loudspeaker of the organizations that work every day to improve the quality of life of many people".
Throughout the workshop students and professionals from Tecnun and Ceit-Ik4 have learned about the work of social organizations such as Cáritas Gipuzkoa, Aspace, Gautena, Paliativos sin Fronteras, Cruz Roja Gipuzkoa, Matia Fundazioa or Afagi, among others.
The workshop has been organized by Tantaka, the Solidarity Time Bank of Tecnun-University of Navarra, currently composed of more than 200 volunteers at campus in Donostia-San Sebastian.
Tantaka emerged at the University of Navarra in 2008 with the aim of making the time of the university community available to NGOs. The essence of Tantaka is to provide future volunteers with the social project that best suits their preferences or hobbies. "We have volunteers who like literature and offer to read stories in residences, or soccer fans who play with people in status of social exclusion", exemplified the director.
For her part, the Deputy for Social Policies, Maite Peña, closed the event by stating that Gipuzkoa is a "Territory of solidarity", and in this sense, she assured that the Provincial Council "will continue to accompany and support" these associations, both in the "economic field and in the field of information and training".
Finally, Maite Peña wanted to highlight the involvement of many young people in Gipuzkoa in solidarity activities through NGOs and other associations of the Third Sector.
