Alumni Banking Sectorial: 140 professionals in a space for reflection and networking

On February 18, around 140 professionals from the banking sector gathered at the University's postgraduate headquarters in Madrid to participate in the Banking Sector Alumni. An event that, beyond being a meeting point, is consolidated as a space for networking and reflection on the challenges and trends in the sector.

The session began with a discussion paper by Pablo Hernández de Cos, former governor of the Bank of Spain, who analyzed the evolution of the sector and macroeconomic forecasts: "The projections are optimistic for the coming years, although uncertainties persist related to geopolitical factors and economic policies in different countries".

Then, in the roundtable, José Sevilla, president of Unicaja, addressed the transformation that the sector is undergoing and the importance of adapting to a changing environment. The discussion, moderated by Eduardo Ávila, director of the Master in Banking and Financial Regulation at the University of Navarra, covered core topic such as digitalization, regulation and the impact of new technologies on the banking business model .

One of the central moments of the workshop were the breakout sessions, designed as spaces for networking and dialogue around five core topic: Fintech, Commercial Banking, Investment Banking, Payments and Alternatives, and Corporate Center. As one of the attendees, Yaiza Nieto Bayán, pointed out: "They are a way to interact with professionals in your area and start a conversation that might not otherwise arise". These sessions, led by alumni, allowed for an exchange of experiences and the exchange of different perspectives in a more intimate environment.

The Banking Sector Alumni brought together very diverse profiles, from young professionals to executives with a long career in the sector, from banks, fintechs and other financial institutions.

More than a one-off event, the meeting reaffirmed its purpose of building a professional community in which to share knowledge and generate opportunities. As one of the participants, Javier de Celis Lamúa, pointed out: "There is a pool of professionals here that is very good to meet, especially when you know that you have to look for profiles for various vacancies in your company".

To enhance this professional network , a LinkedIn group has been created where participants can continue the conversation, share job opportunities and propose initiatives for future meetings.
