ABC Compressors awards a award to Tecnun students for the quality of a pneumatic project

Last Monday, December 18, ABC Compressors, a company dedicated to manufacturing compressors for the food and petrochemical sectors, awarded a group of students for the quality of a pneumatic project . Specifically, the student team was recognized with 600 euros for the quality of a machine that automatically closes envelopes and deposits them in a basket. "The machine moistens the top of the envelope and deploys a force that causes the moistened flap to move and close it," explained the students who won the competition. Gorka Sánchez, professor at subject of Pneumatics and Olehydraulics where the competition took place, recognizes the quality of the four teams of students who competed for the award. And he adds that the interesting thing about the practice is that "it is carried out in a professional context in which students learn to meet different milestones to create a machine with pneumatic technology that works".

The winning students were satisfied with the award and explained some of the difficulties they have encountered during these months. All of them emphasized the importance of knowing how to work as a team. "The core topic has been the joint coordination of the whole project because if everyone had done their part independently, the machine would not have worked," they expressed.

The members of the jury were three people in charge of the Eibar-based company ABC Compressors. Its General Director , Carlos Martín; the Technical Director , Demetrio San Adrián; and the Oil & Gas Director , Lucio Arizaga.

As pointed out by Tecnun Gorka Sánchez, the members of the jury not only evaluate the final result of the works, but also make the students go a little further, asking them what solutions they would carry out if the machine failed.
