The Colegios Mayores celebrate the Opening of the academic year

Last Saturday, September 22, the Solemn official opening of the academic year 2018/2019 took place at Colegio Mayor Ayete. The presiding table was composed of Pablo Sánchez-Ostiz, Vice President of Office of Academic Affairs of the University of Navarra; Clemente Tobalina, president of board of trustees of Government of Colegio Mayor Ayete, Santiago Zayas, director of Colegio Mayor, Juan María Bilbao, Dean of committee Collegiate and Dr. Jacinto Bátiz Cantera, Head area of Palliative Care at Hospital San Juan de Dios, who gave the lecture entitled "Humanizing the process of dying".

As part of the ceremony, a ceremony was held for the 17 third year students, who joined the presentation of graduation sashes The 17 third-year students, who will join the committee Collegiate, from which the organization of life at Colegio Mayor originates, were presented with their names. Some of these students are Guillermo Tulio de Andrés, from Seville; John Marcolin, from the United States; Cristian Urruela, from Guatemala and José Pou, from Pamplona. Also receiving scholarships were Aaron Lopez, Pablo Marin, Miguel Latasa, Pablo Lloves, Kees Noorbergen, Pablo Fraga, Martin Terres, Pablo Bilbao, Fernando Jimenez-Villarejo, Guillermo Griñan, Miguel Arribas and Manuel Jimenez.

Opening of Senior Colleges

In addition to the students, the event was attended by the General Manager of Colegio Mayor Ayete, Miguel Ruiz, the chaplain, D. Emilio Fuertes, members of Office of the Dean, and teachers of Tecnun, as Professor Emeritus Juan Flaquer, among others. There were also representatives from other Colegios Mayores, such as Héctor Devesa, from Colegio Mayor Belagua or José Luco, from Colegio Mayor Bidealde. The neighboring Colegio Mayor Jaizkibel was represented by Katyna Sada, Paloma Gutiérrez and Almudena Bergera

Also in attendance were parents, siblings and friends of the students, such as the Fraga de la Viesca family from La Coruña and the Arribas Barreras family from Pamplona. Other distinguished guests were the director of Tecnun, Raúl Antón, and Paloma Grau, the assistant director of academic staff of the School of Engineering of the University of Navarra.

Musikene students provided the music for the event. Attendees were able to enjoy an aperitif served in the garden of Colegio Mayor. Among them were Teresa Pardo, Raquel Suescún, Javier Martínez, María Martí, Sofía and Ana Pestano and Carmen Fons. The event was also attended by former colleagues and friends, such as Fernando Ruiz, Carlos Ramírez, Ricardo García, Javier Biera and Ernesto Cervilla, as well as professors from the University of Navarra, the University of the Basque Country and Deusto.

Opening of Colegio Mayor Jaizkibel

It is worth mentioning that, last Thursday 20th, the Colegio Mayor Jaizkibel also celebrated the Academic official opening of the academic year , which was attended by academic authorities from Tecnun and many university students. The workshop started with the presentation of the activities of the course and it was the Full Professor of Aesthetics and Theory of the Arts of the University of Navarra, Mr. Ricardo Piñero Moral, who gave the keynote lecture.

Opening of Senior Colleges

The assistant director of academic staff of Tecun, Paloma Grau, presided over the ceremony and dedicated a few words to the schoolgirls: "My committee is that you enhance and put into practice that which is proper and exclusive to human beings, that for which we have been created, which is to love each other. Love each other in a selfless way, putting the needs of others before your own preferences". Paloma Grau concluded: "I want to highlight the important role we women have in creating a society with a bigger heart, more generous and humane, where we all fit. The world is in your hands.
