Awarded to project SMR for its contribution to research and innovation
Marta Iturriza, Josune Hernantes and Leire Labaka, researchers at department de Organización Industrial de Tecnun, gratefully receive the recognition of the project SMR.
CEN (European Committee for Standardization) and CENELEC (European Committee for Electrotechnical Standardization) annually award a prize to a Europeanproject for its contribution to research and innovation in standardization. On this occasion, the award has been given to project SMR, coordinated by the department de Organización Industrial de Tecnun.
The awarded award wants to highlight the relevance of standardization in projects as a point core topic for their success in the short, but, above all, in the long term deadline. The project ended in June 2018 and with the results obtained the researchers want to create a network of resilient cities at European level. To do so, as they tell, the application of the standardized results is of great financial aid to them, as it allows them to more easily replicate and apply the guide of resilience they develop.
"We were competing with other projects with very good results. At SMR we went through a whole process of standardizing the results so that they could be replicated and implemented by the cities more easily," says Marta Iturriza, a doctoral student at Tecnun. "The award is a recognition of a job well done. At the beginning, the process of standardizing the results was laborious. As coordinators of project, we were very involved in ensuring that the desired results were achieved. But the participating cities, at first, did not see the value of having to standardize the results obtained. This award somehow confirms to us the value of the effort we made."
