The University of Navarra submission Silver Medal to 78 professionals
6 of them work at campus in San Sebastian.
The University of Navarra celebrated submission with the awarding of Silver Medals to professionals who have been working for 25 years. This year, 78 people were awarded the distinction: seven from IESE, which were presented on December 20 at a ceremony in Barcelona, and 71 from campus in Pamplona and San Sebastián, one of them posthumously to the School professor of Theology Juan Antonio Gil Tamayo, who will be presented on March 9 at an academic ceremony in memoriam.
The ceremony, which took place in the Museum Theater of the academic center, was attended by President, Alfonso Sánchez-Tabernero, and Javier Mata, director of the Research Management Service, on behalf of the group of medalists.
In his speech, President pointed out that the University faces challenges together: "We know that, although alone we could go faster, together we can go further," he said. And he added: "We have in our minds more the big than the small. We are able to overcome the incomprehensions or discomforts of the day-to-day work, to keep in mind the great project that is to make the University."
In addition, he quoted Francisco Ponz, former President, who turned 100 years old in 2019: "The entire life of the University reflects the intimate joy proper to those who only seek to serve others, who ambition to be able to improve that service, who do not seek the glitter staff...".
Javier Mata also highlighted unity and service as the main characteristics of the work at the University. "We are up here today because we have been providing service for 25 years. Service to the University, but service to society through the University," he said.
"These are 25 years of memories. 25 years of research, of healing, of learning to heal and to teach, of joys, of some sadness, of submission, of willing sacrifice, of adapting to organizational, personal and technological changes in the environment. Sometimes accepting without understanding, sometimes understanding and reluctantly accepting", he emphasized, representing the medalists.
