Tecnun and Askatuak join forces to play next season in the 1st National Basketball Division.
The agreement will be in force at least until the end of the 2020-2021 season.

The Askatuak Club has just signed a collaboration agreement with the basketball team of Tecnun, the School of Engineering of the University of Navarra, which will enable its first team to play this coming 2019-2020 season in the 1st National Division under the name of Tecnun-Askatuak.
The agreement signed by the president of Askatuak, Iñaki Almandoz, with the president of Club Deportivo Tecnun, Iñigo Apaolaza, and with Gorka Etxezarreta, captain of the team, will be in force until the end of the 2020-2021 season.
The Tecnun team is made up of students and alumni from Tecnun, and some colleagues from UPV-EHU. Most of them joined the team when they were still competing in provincial categories and in 2016-2017 they achieved promotion to the First National League. The last two seasons they have played in the final of the playoffs for promotion to the EBA League, winning one of them.
The composition and management of the team will be the responsibility of Tecnun and its players, while the coaching staff will be the responsibility of Askatuak, with the consensus of the staff. The first coach will be Xabier Gorostegi, currently a member of the Askatuak coaching staff. Likewise, the choice of the second coach, if necessary, and the choice of the field delegate will be left to Askatuak's discretion.
The coaching staff will also be able to incorporate players from Askatuak's lower categories to make up for any departures that may occur, although these will never affect players from the current squad.
The agreement means the return of Askatuak to a category in which it played for several years - in the 2017-2018 season, the most recent one - and the recovery of a level that allows it to compete to fight for the EBA League, a sporting category and aspiration more in line with the motivation of the Club's training bases.
