Tecnun creates the Chair de Empresa Tecnun-SAPA to promote research on high-speed gearboxes
Among its objectives is the research of high-speed gears and the approach of student body to SAPA, a company specialized in mobility technologies.
Tecnunthe School of Engineering of the University of Navarra, and SAPA, a company specialized in mobility technologies, have signed an agreement agreement for the start-up of the Chair de Empresa Tecnun - SAPA.
The Chair will focus its research on high-speed gears used in electric heavy-duty vehicle transmission systems. In addition, among the objectives of the Chair is that it "serves as a platform for the students of Tecnun to carry out their final projects of Degree, master and doctoral theses on other problems of the Engineering of SAPA's products". This has been explained by the director of the Chair and professor of department of Mechanical Engineering and Materials of Tecnun, Juan Carlos Ramos, who added that "this alliance will promote the development and strengthening of students in skills related to innovation and mobility technologies".
The signature of the new agreement has been sealed by the director of Tecnun, Raúl Antón, and the director general of SAPA, Iñigo García-Eizaga. The latter underlined the importance for SAPA's project of having knowledge and the talent generated at the university.
As described by University professor Juan Carlos Ramos, through the new Chair "analytical, numerical and experimental studies will be carried out on how these high-speed gears have to be and what conditions they will be subjected to. Issues related to noise and vibration transmission, torsional stresses, transmission errors, cooling and lubrication conditions, among others, will be analyzed," he stressed. He also pointed to design and the construction of a test bench to test the high-speed gears, measure the parameters associated with their operation and validate that they are designed correctly or, if not, redefine their design.
