Four students from the Aldapeta Maria and Erain schools, winners of the II edition of the Tecnun Cubesat contest

Last Thursday, September 11, four students from Aldapeta Maria Ikastetxea and Erain Ikastetxea schools were awarded the award in the II edition of the Tecnun Cubesat Challenge contest for the development of a satellite emulator that simulates images of the Antarctic, with the goal of estimating the population of the emperor penguin.

The projects presented, as explained by the professor from Tecnun and organizer of the competition, Daniel Valderas Gázquez, make it possible to collect the feces of Antarctic penguins from a satellite emulator and study the consequences of climate change on their population.

"With the Tecnun Cubesat challenge we aim to give high school diploma students, who sense that their professional future would be aligned with technology careers, the opportunity to have first-hand practical experience that will help them make a decision for their future in a motivating environment," says Valderas.

In such a project, participating students acquire skills in electronics, telecommunications, programming, teamwork and communication.
