Last Saturday, May 30, the Kursaal auditorium witnessed the conclusion of the university journey for 221 Degree students Degree 79 graduate students. "We celebrate the journey we’ve taken, what we’ve learned, and, above all, who we’ve become over these years." This is how the Degree master’s Degree student representatives Clara Schoepp, Iñigo Bañuls, and Lucía Albisua put it in their speech.

Throughout the workshop, a range of emotions surfaced among the graduates: reunions with classmates, introductions of professors to family members, nostalgia for the past, and equal parts excitement and trepidation about what was about to begin that very day.

"Although the demanding academic pace of our first year was a real challenge, we look back on it today with a smile: it was the time when we discovered our ability to push ourselves and when, through studying and laughter, we forged the character that defines us today," said Clara Schoepp, the student representative Degree Mechanical Engineering Degree .

The representative of Tecnun and the representative for Degree Industrial Electronic Engineering, Iñigo Bañuls, expressed his gratitude to the professors “for being an example of dedication and for devoting hours to our Q&A sessions; to the advisors, for taking an interest in ourstaff academic development during our time at the university; and to the entire Tecnun staff .” The recently retired chaplain, Mr. Emilio Fuertes, received accredited specialization ; he delivered his final homily during the Mass preceding the ceremony, which took place at the Church of San Vicente.

The "biggest" round of applause went to the parents. Lucía Albisua, the representative for the Master’s in Industrial Engineering, also addressed the families: “A seed will never bloom if it isn’t tended to, and if this stage is filled today with flowers of every color, it’s thanks to those of you who watered and cared for them, even when the flower was in the midst of exams and in a bad mood.”

During the closing ceremony, Paloma Grau, Vice President Research and Sustainability, encouraged the engineers, saying, "May your profession—and whatever you devote your energies to—be something that has a true purpose allows you, in addition to earning a living, to find joy, do good, and continue to grow." Secondly, she encouraged them to, in “your professional lives, never forget to value what is genuinely human. Conversations and personal relationships with family, friends, and colleagues at work can never be replaced by other, dehumanized forms of interaction.”

He concluded by referring to Pope Leo XIV’s encyclical and stated: “True progress always springs from a heart open to others, from a mind willing to listen, and from a will that seeks what unites rather than what divides.”
