The third year students of Tecnunthe School of Engineering of the University of Navarra in San Sebastian, celebrated their graduation day last Friday, February 7. The workshop started with a mass in the basilica of Nuestra del Coro, in the old part of San Sebastian, celebrated by the chaplains of the School, Emilio Fuertes and Francisco José Marín. At 12 noon, the students of the 9 Degrees currently offered by Tecnun took their seats in the Plenary Hall of the City Hall of the capital of Guipuzcoa, to receive their scholarship. They did so accompanied by members of the board of directors, Raúl Antón, director Tecnun, the Deputy Director of Students, Jorge Juan Gil, the Deputy Director of academic staff, Francis Planes, the deputy director of the Office of Academic Affairs Nere Gil-Negrete, the General Manager. Soledad Abad and the director of development, Íñigo Gutiérrez, who hosted the event.
Throughout the event, Carlos Andreuconsultant, Visiting Professor at numerous universities, partner with different business schools and author of the book "From the Coffin to the Kite", in a lecture full of questions and interpellations, such as Are we all clones, what do people who do well in life do, what are the 4 things you get up every morning for? encouraged all attendees to find the whys and wherefores of life for each of them.
"The four fundamental pillars by which everyone moves are family, work, health, both intellectual and physical, and relationships, friends." With a nice exercise of drawing a cross and putting each of these concepts on each of them, he had the students score themselves on each concept, showing them that, depending on how they evaluated themselves, the resulting geometric shape could be "a coffin or a kite." "A person's diary reflects his or her life," he said, and urged them to reflect on the balance of these four elements in order to be able to make accurate decisions about their future staff and career.
Finally, Andreu gave them a "clue" to be happy, which has to do with the balance between the four factors mentioned "you must be closer to the kite than to the coffin", he pointed out and left them with a final reflection on success, "knowing that a life has passed more easily because you have lived. This is a great reason.
Then the student María Linares spoke on behalf of everyone, who, among memories and anecdotes, echoed her gratitude for the three years we have lived "Today, as we reach this point in our journey, we can look back with gratitude and forward with hope, knowing that this road we have traveled not only transforms us as people, but also brings us closer to the highest ideals that guide us. We cannot forget what motivates us and drives us to take the next step, and not fall apart. Let us aspire to more than just worldly values; we have to go further, to honor that humanity and transcendence that is proper to each one of us," he said.
Finally, he encouraged his colleagues to take advantage of the opportunity to learn, to discover new ideas and to grow as people.
Among them were the course delegates Lucía Isabel Calatayud Lens, Ana Fernanda Preciado Magaña, Teresa Galán Ciganda, Samuel Jiménez Marín, Iñigo Bañuls Díaz, Clara Schoepp Ruiz, Miguel Jordano López, Alejandro Yangali Maldonado and Jose Javier Abad Santaella. Once the ceremony was over and after the corresponding photographs, in which the presence of the mayor of the city, Eneko Goia, was of special interest, the students continued the workshop with their teachers with a meal at the Ondarreta Tennis Restaurant.
