The new edition of the Solidarity Concert of the Youth is launched
Mahler's Second Symphony will be performed at position by the Orfeón Donostiarra and the Orquesta Sinfónica de Aragón.
This year the Youth Solidarity Concert, organized by the Colegio Mayor Ayete and students of Tecnun-University of Navarra, reaches a milestone: the eleventh edition. The university students of the city have organized, once again, this solidarity initiative in order to help the Homeless People assisted by Caritas Gipuzkoa. On this occasion, Mahler's Second Symphony will be performed at position by the Orfeón Donostiarra and the Orquesta Sinfónica de Aragón. This has been highlighted by the director of Colegio Mayor Ayete, Santiago Zayas, in the press conference that has been held at the City Hall of San Sebastian this morning, together with the mayor, Eneko Goia, the director of Caritas Gipuzkoa, José Ramón Aramendi; and the director of this year's concert, Iñigo Pirfano .
Santiago Zayas highlighted the double function of the event, which on the one hand collaborates with people in status disadvantaged, and on the other hand, promotes the participation of young university students in cultural events and volunteer activities. Zayas also stressed that the concert is "a dream come true, and that it is possible thanks to the effort and enthusiasm of young people to help others". For his part, José Ramon Aramendi, director of Caritas Gipuzkoa, expressed his gratitude for the support he has received from Colegio Mayor Ayete for years. "Joining the beauty of music with a beautiful feeling such as caressing and giving the best you can is something magical," said Aramendi.
For his part, Mayor Eneko Goia has shown his support for the Solidarity Concert to be held at the Kursaal next Friday, March 1 at 8 pm, and whose funds will go to project night shelter that manages Caritas Gipuzkoa.
About Caritas Gipuzkoa
Caritas Gipuzkoa has a number of centers. For example, Aterpe, a day center that welcomes, accompanies and assists people who are in status of social exclusion. The other project is Hotzaldi, a night shelter for people lacking accommodation. Its goal is to offer decent and close accommodation conditions. Hotzaldi has a team that offers relationships, companionship and listening.
The figure of the volunteer makes that, with their dedication, submission and predisposition, the nights are more welcoming and help to combat loneliness. The Colegio Mayor Ayete collaborates with volunteers in this center helping to take care of the facility two Saturdays a month.
