MUBIL and Tecnun their partnership agreement the framework City Science Lab Gipuzkoa

Tecnun, the School of Engineering at the University of Navarra, and MUBIL, an organization dedicated to smart and sustainable mobility, have renewed their partnership agreement the framework the City Science Lab Gipuzkoa (CSL@Gipuzkoa). This research lab works on sustainable mobility projects and is part of the network promoted by the MIT average in Boston.
As explained by Zuriñe Varela, scientific director of CSL@Gipuzkoa, the renewal of agreement the commitment of Tecnun MUBIL to knowledge generation knowledge applied research development , as well as to the definition of regulatory frameworks and public policies in collaboration with the government. Tecnun director Francisco Javier Planes highlighted the importance director institutional collaboration with various stakeholders and emphasized that “the University of Navarra aims to drive the transformation of the region through new mobility systems that contribute to improving people’s quality of life.”
For his part, César Gutiérrez, director MUBIL and director of project Science Lab Gipuzkoa project , noted that the renewal of the agreement “reinforces a strategic priority for MUBIL: connecting knowledge , applied research, specialized talent, and the region’s real needs to promote smarter, more sustainable mobility that is tailored to people’s needs.”
Gutiérrez emphasized that the City Science Lab Gipuzkoa “enables a comprehensive analysis of mobility, incorporating data, land-use planning, public-private partnerships, and connections with the academic and professional communities.” In his view, “this lab helps generate knowledge for decision-making and strengthens an ecosystem capable of anticipating the mobility challenges of the future.”
Over the next three years, the laboratory will focus its efforts on analyzing various core topic aspects core topic . Among these, Scientific Director Zuriñe Varela highlights the study of daily mobility patterns for passengers and goods, accessibility to public transportation services, as well as the impact of housing prices and other factors on internal migration and the associated mobility needs. “Our work seeks to understand the relationships between all these factors in order to prioritize and coordinate initiatives aligned with the challenges of the environment,” she added.
It is worth noting that the lab was established in 2023 as a result of agreement by the Provincial Council of Gipuzkoa, MUBIL, and the City Science Group at average MIT Media average . Thus, Gipuzkoa is part of the exclusive network of cities around the world sponsored by MIT, the City Science Network, which also includes Shanghai, Taipei, Hamburg, Guadalajara (Mexico), Andorra, and BioBío (Chile), among others.
City Science Summit
Among the new developments, one highlight is the City Science Summit, which will be held this year in San Sebastián. This meeting the various laboratories of the network City Science network along with local stakeholders from the host city, with the goal sharing progress and forging new partnerships.
The first workshop place on November 4 at the Kursaal, where there will be demonstrations and open presentations. The meeting on November 5 at Tabakalera, with several more technical workshops.
The event, which is open to the public, will provide an opportunity to learn firsthand about the initiatives of the City Science ecosystem.
