Three entrepreneurs in the healthcare sector shared ideas with students from the Master's Degree in Biomedical Engineering.

The founder of Glucovibes, Alberto Conde, the founder of Deneb Medical, Juan Arregui, and the CEO of Polimerbio, Pablo Fernández, spoke about entrepreneurship to thirty students from the Master's Degree in Biomedical Engineering in a session organized on December 16 by theTecnun Chair and Innovation Factory.

On Tuesday, December 16, theTecnun Chair and Innovation Factory held a exhibition and roundtable entrepreneurs in the healthcare sector. The event was attended by around thirty students studying campus Master's Degree in Biomedical Engineering.

 
 

Polimerbio CEO Pablo Fernández was the first to present his success story, a biotechnology company dedicated to development biodegradable healthcare development from polymers. During his presentation, he explained the company's various sources of funding and noted that the team consists of eight people.

Fernández emphasized that " project management closely linked to people management" and stressed that any project must bring real value to the sector and society, as demonstrated by the fact that his company is already testing its product in clinical trials in hospitals. He also highlighted the importance of protecting good ideas, encouraging the use of trade secrets, as Coca-Cola did, rather than patents when it comes to innovations that are easy to copy.

 
 

On the other hand, the founder of Glucovibes, Alberto Conde, reflected on the ideation process and emphasized the importance of accurately identifying the problem to be solved with an innovative solution. In their case, they detected people's need to take care of their metabolism, which led them to develop memberships tailored to each Username. These include personalized nutritional plans, with glycemic impact prediction and metabolic monitoring. 

Conde emphasized that "you have to fall in love with the problem" and stressed that "there is no solution without a problem," thus highlighting the importance of this initial phase of the creative process.

 
 

Finally, Deneb Medical founder Juan Arregui explained how his startup has developed robotic surgical systems that assist surgeons, especially in spinal surgery. With more than ten years of experience, the company currently has a team of twenty people. During his presentation, Arregui also highlighted that distribution companies take between 40% and 50% of revenues, a core topic consider in the business.

The director the TecnunChair , Gustavo Pego, moderated a roundtable the three entrepreneurs, in which they exchanged ideas and experiences about the challenges and lessons learned from entrepreneurship. During the session, discussions arose about the compatibility between running a business and family life, how to manage uncertainty, and the path that an entrepreneur follows throughout their career.

The speakers agreed on the importance of learning to manage what cannot be controlled and to put problems into perspective. Fernández encouraged the student body avoid a common problem: "wanting to control what is unmanageable." They also highlighted the need to learn to delegate tasks, anticipate problems, and maintain perspective in the face of obstacles. For his part, Conde stressed that "there are many ways to be an entrepreneur beyond starting a business," and all three agreed that there is no single path, encouraging attendees not to be afraid of making mistakes in the process.
