The Deputy for the Environment, José Ignacio Asensio, and the director of Tecnun, Raúl Antón, have signed the renewal of partnership agreement to implement the industrial symbiosis that accelerates and measures the transition of Gipuzkoan companies to a model of Economics circular. These actions are part of the strategic framework developed in the previous project Sarea,. The study will be carried out by Tecnun and financed by the department Environment of the Provincial Council of Gipuzkoa.

The agreement signed establishes that the following tasks will be carried out at framework : identification and characterization of symbiosis initiatives that have arisen in the Territory, based on the members of the Reuse and Recycling cluster 'GK Recycling'; mapping of initiatives that have arisen and characterization of the agents that have intervened; archive of these actions to promote synergies and the definition and adaptation of indicators for the evaluation of the transition.

It also plans to create a 2.0 version of its Circular Market platform, which will showcase the best positioned companies in Gipuzkoa that promote synergies and generate industrial symbiosis processes to accelerate the transition.

The circular Economics is a new model that seeks the economic development in an environmentally sustainable way. This model proposes a Economics based on the use and recovery of biological and technical cycles of resources in the different phases of extraction, transformation, distribution and consumption. In this way, a more efficient use of material flows is achieved, waste is minimized and symbiosis is encouraged.

Tecnun has been working for some time on the idea of informing and promoting the transition of companies from a linear to a circular economic model and, in this sense, is working on the integration of small and medium-sized companies in the circular Economics .
