Jokin Bildarratz has visited for the first time the School of Engineering of the University of Navarra

Today took place the first institutional visit to Tecnun of the Minister of Education of the Basque Government, Jokin Bildarratz, since his appointment in 2020. Bildarratz, who was accompanied by the Deputy Minister of Universities and Research, Adolfo Morais, met with the director of Tecnun, Raúl Antón, to get to know the university center, its educational offer and the research projects in which the School of Engineering of the University of Navarra is working.
The visit has started with a meeting in which the director of Tecnun has presented the most relevant data. In this regard, Raúl Antón highlighted the 68 research projects that Tecnun is currently working on and thanked the Basque Government for its support through the basic research programs, as well as the Ikerbasque calls for proposals.
Likewise, topics such as the launch of the first edition of the 4Gune Executive Program in Industry 4.0, a pioneering experience that will begin in February 2022 and in which the School, together with the rest of the Basque universities, is collaborating to offer companies training in a field such as smart industry, core topic, have also been discussed.
Antón also pointed out that 1,400 students are currently studying one of the 8 and 6 master's degrees offered by both in San Sebastian and in Madrid. Degrees and 6 master's degrees offered by Tecnun both at the Donostia headquarters and in Madrid, with 16% student body international and almost 60% of its student body from Gipuzkoa. "More than 9,000 students have passed through our classrooms and around 5,000 of our former students make up the business fabric of Gipuzkoa," said Antón. In this sense, the director explained that one of the strategic lines of Tecnun this year, on the occasion of its 60th anniversary, is "to take advantage of the celebration of these six decades to be with the people, look back, see what has been done and show what challenges we face as an institution at the service of society in the Basque Country".
This first meeting has culminated with a visit by the four Departments Research Tecnun such as Industrial Organization, Biomedical Engineering, Electrical and Electronic Engineering and the department Engineering of Mechanics and Materials.
