Tecnun renamed the School of Engineering
This change responds to a double goal: to use a name that refers to the corresponding discipline, and to adopt an inclusive name that obeys equality criteria.
TecnunThe School of Engineering of the University of Navarra will be renamed the School of Engineering, following the decision taken by the Office of the Executive Council and the board board of directors of the center in San Sebastian.
This change responds to a double goal. First, to use a name referring to the corresponding discipline, instead of to those who develop the profession, as occurs with other schools or faculties: Architecture, Nursing, Medicine, Economics or Law, for example. On the other hand, to adopt an inclusive name that obeys criteria of equality.
In addition, as explained by Raúl Antón, director of Tecnun-School of Engineering, "in general, universities use the term School of Engineering. Even internationally, the most frequent denomination in English is School of Engineering".
Logically, this change will entail a modification in the applications of the brand Tecnun-University of Navarra. The name will be adapted in the different formats, starting with the web and social networks.
The new name in the three languages will therefore be as follows:
Tecnun. School of Engineering. University of Navarra.
Tecnun. Ingeniaritza Eskola. Nafarroako Unibertsitatea.
Tecnun. School of Engineering. University of Navarra.
The School, which was founded in 1961 in Donostia-San Sebastián, has more than 8200 students alumni. Degrees It currently offers eight engineering courses, three master's degrees and one doctoral program to more than 1,200 students. Starting in the 2019-2020 academic year, Tecnun will also offer the Master's Degree in Industrial Engineering in Madrid.
Research at Tecnun is carried out in cooperation with CEIT, a technology center associated with the University of Navarra with which Tecnun shares facilities in Ibaeta and Miramón.
