Balenciaga Chair projects, a blend of heritage and the latest trends

On May 20, the students of the 2nd year of the Degree of Degree in Industrial design presented their final projects for the challenge "BALENCIAGA CHAIR", carried out in collaboration with the Balenciaga Foundation.

The project was done in two phases: the initial research stage was carried out in teams of three people and concluded with the creation of a panel that identified the main lines of the work. Then, each of the members selected a furniture element to proceed with the creation of concepts and the development of the proposal individually. 

For the final phase, 7 projects were presented. During the presentation, Jone de Felipe Barrutia, head of the Education area of the Cristóbal Balenciaga Foundation, was present.

As their teachers Carlos Alonso Pascual and Paz Morer explain, the pathway of the project has led the students to establish a fluid and continuous dialogue between the past and the present, between bequest and innovation, between fashion and furniture design , in a careful and attentive process.
"In this journey they have found exchanges and connections between the creative lines that have established the Balenciaga heritage and the latest trends in furniture design " reflects Alonso Pascual. 

As part of the goal to preserve and disseminate the design of a series of seats that are inspired by his creations and explore the intersections of fashion with other creative disciplines such as real estate design .

The professors state that "the result the project has been a diverse, innovative and surprising series of entries that establish a solid creative foundation to point to new and exciting future developments".
